Like a Valentine: The Art of Jeffry Mitchell is the first monograph on the work of Seattle artist Jeffry Mitchell, who has self-described as a “gay folk artist”.  A prolific artist, Mitchell utilizes various materials, from early experiments with paper and resin to captivating ceramic objects and installations, as well as delicate and playful watercolors. Mitchell’s personal iconography includes flora and fauna; particularly bears, elephants, and flora, that appear in decorative form while containing and expressing an emotional narrative.

This beautiful volume was first published in 2012 by the Henry Art Gallery, in collaboration with Marquand Books.
