Egg Pattern Puzzle
More Colorful Egg Pattern Favorites to Go For, Gregory Blackstock, 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle
Seattle artist Gregory Blackstock (American, b. 1946) creates visual lists of everything from art supplies to types of birds to emergency vehicles to wasps. Without formal artistic training, his works show subtle differences and similarities, enhancing the distinctive differences between types of crows, fish, trees and even noisemakers. A retired pot washer who lives with autism, he is often referred to as an artistic savant. Blackstock uses pencils, black or multicolored markers and crayons to create orderly and artistic visual lists.
Creating art has become his outlet for defining an unpredictable world. Once he chooses a subject, he seeks to record all the variations within that group, to make the artwork “complete.” This process yields intricately tiled and labeled freehand drawings that span multiple pieces of paper added with tape and glue. Presented here for this 1,000 piece puzzle are designs Blackstock researched from various countries’ flags, along with such familiar patterns as plaid, checkerboard, and brickwall.
